CONGRATULATIONS! You have started the journey in finding your ideal wedding photographers in Houston! Though you might feel a bit overwhelmed, we have some simple steps to help you find the perfect wedding photographer for your most important day!
Do Your Research
When starting your search, be sure to read reviews on websites and browse local listings to see the opinions of brides who have already made their wedding journey. This will also help you to narrow down what style of photography you like (photo-journalistic, classic, or bright and airy like yours truly!). Reviews will also give you insight from real brides and allow you to see that product that their photographer delivered to them. You can see testimonials from our clients here. And be sure to look at their social media pages (Instagram and Facebook) to see their most recent work and what past clients are saying there.
See Beyond Being Just a Client
One of the most important things we discuss when meeting our prospective clients is security in their decision when choosing us. That said, being sure that our personalities mesh with yours is very important! We are coffee chugging, cat cuddling, natural light loving nerds who will be spending more time with you on your wedding day than you will with your spouse! You want not only a wedding photographer who has a flair for being social, but you also want to be sure that they won’t offend your guests, family, or wedding party. We pride ourselves on not only being professional with our clients, but becoming friends and family to them as well. And always, always, always, trust your gut feelings when you first meet!
Keep to Your Budget
When searching for your ideal wedding photographers in Houston, budget should be one of your primary concerns. When viewing wedding collections, keep a keen eye for what they include. We include 2 photographers, an engagement/bridal session, wedding day coverage, and digital images for the cost of our collections. Be sure to ask what rights you have to your photos (we retain the copyright to the images for usage in promotional material and publication) and ask for a detailed explanation of what that covers. Also ask if sales tax is added to the cost of the coverage as that can put you over budget. And be sure to keep in mind that some services, like albums and digital files, are an additional fee for some photographers.
Find Your Timeline/Shotlist Wizard
For most of our clients, this is their first wedding day. We are there to support them through every step of it! We provide all of our clients with a rundown of how we work on a wedding day at our consultation. This way, they know what to expect photographically on their wedding day. We also work with each of our clients, or their planners, on a wedding day timeline. This will keep us on schedule and stress free on the wedding day. Another thing we provide our clients with is a wedding day shot list. This helps to relieve stress by letting them know the moments that we capture that are standard for each wedding. It also allows for us to plan for special poses or moments that are not on the list.
Ask What You Can Expect After the Big Day
Managing your expectations for your images after your wedding is also very important. We deliver a nine image sneak peek of images the day after your wedding (in most cases) and the rest of the photos within four to six weeks. You should also see how many images you can expect or if the images will be retouched in anyway.
