This Galveston Island State Park engagement session with Monique and Josh was breathtaking! We had fun exploring the beach with them as we captured their love. The weather was perfect, without a cloud in the sky. Plus, these two were a photographer’s dream! They brought a sense of adventure to the session and were willing to get their feet wet—literally! 

The Proposal

Monique and Josh met on Hinge in 2021. Their first date was on the golf course at Houston’s Hermann Park, which turned into a speed round when the hospital where Monique works called her in unexpectedly! The two bonded over ice cream, Astros games, picnics, drive-in movies, and beach days in the weeks following. Soon they discovered a shared love for spontaneous adventures, spending time with family, and the Chili’s 3 for $10 menu! It was clear that they were a perfect match—and Josh started hatching a plan to propose.

He planned a week of recreating some of Monique’s favorite dates from the early days of their relationship. On the final day, they revisited the Hermann Park golf course: the location of their very first date. After a romantic walk in the park, Josh popped the question! Then, he surprised Monique with an engagement dinner with her parents and his, who had flown into town from South Carolina for the occasion. 

Engagement Session at Galveston Island State Park

The couple chose the beach at Galveston Island State Park for their engagement session location. After shooting there once, we are dying to go back! The water sparkled, and the sand at the shoreline reflected the setting sun beautifully. As the light faded, the sky filled with soft pastel colors. It was like something out of a dream!

Meanwhile, Monique and Josh strolled the shoreline and splashed in the waves. They aren’t just soulmates but best friends, and that was so clear as we watched them together! Quality time is their love language, so this was their idea of a perfect date. They also love spontaneous adventures, so they weren’t afraid to get sandy and wet! We’re proud of how these images capture the lighthearted energy between them.
