Brazos Bend State Park is of our favorite locations to shoot near Houston. So, we were thrilled when Lynsey and Ryan asked us to photograph their engagement session there! The park is so pretty and unmistakably Texas, with massive live oaks and Spanish moss draping everywhere. It was the perfect place to capture the love between these two proud Aggies. Even their sweet pup Ellie came along for the fun!
An Aggie Love Story
Lynsey and Ryan met nine years ago as Texas A&M students. Lynsey believed she was attending a football game with her friend group and a few acquaintances, including Ryan, while Ryan thought they were on a blind date! Despite the miscommunication, the two hit it off instantly and started dating a few months later. It wasn’t until several years into their relationship that they discovered their differing perspectives on how they first met!
The couple graduated from Texas A&M and were long-distance before moving together to Texas Hill Country. They lived in Fredericksburg while Ryan completed his training to become a game warden. Then, they moved back to Lynsey’s hometown of Richmond, TX. They share two labrador retrievers: Ellie, a five-year-old rescue (and very photogenic!), and Augie, a six-month-old pup in training to become Ryan’s hunting companion. In their spare time, they love to spend time outdoors hiking, fishing, and horseback riding. They also love to whip up homemade tiki drinks using their Smuggler’s Cove recipe book!
In the summer of 2022, Lynsey was away from home visiting loved ones in Rhode Island while Ryan remained behind for work. With help from family, Ryan hopped on a plane and snuck up to New England to surprise Lynsey! After a private stroll at a beautiful state park on the coast, he proposed. Of course, she said YES!
Engagement Session at Brazos Bend State Park
We shot Lynsey and Ryan’s engagement portraits in a romantic field surrounded by live oak trees at Brazos Bend State Park. They love the outdoors (and each other, of course!) and couldn’t have looked more in their element. They strolled through the tall grass and snuggled their pup, Ellie. Meanwhile, they couldn’t stop smiling and showing affection to each other! These two share something special, and we feel so fortunate to get to capture their love. Their wedding day can’t come soon enough!
The couple wore casual outfits in a neutral color palette for the first half of the session. Lynsey wore a simple brown sweater with dark jeans, while Ryan wore light jeans and a flannel shirt. Then, we shot a few close-ups of the couple’s Aggie rings with Lynsey’s engagement ring while they changed into date-night outfits! Lynsey’s black dress was beautiful, with a peach flower pattern and a flirty v-neckline. Ryan also looked great in a gray suit coat and button-down paired with a brown leather belt and dark jeans.
We had so much fun returning to Brazos Bend State Park to photograph Lynsey and Ryan’s engagement session! Their love story is truly inspiring and unique. Ryan was the first person Lynsey ever dated, and although their lives have changed over the years, their commitment to each other has only grown. Soon they’ll start a new chapter as husband and wife, and we can’t wait to document it! Reach out today to learn more about our wedding and engagement photography services.
