After shooting Meghan and Jake’s lakeside engagement session last November, we were so excited to capture their spring wedding at The Vine! These two have such an inspiring love story. They met in college at Texas A&M, but the timing wasn’t right (even though Jake secretly had a crush on Meghan). Years later, Meghan moved back to the Houston area and reached out to her old friend, Jake! They got together to catch up, and soon both were head over heels. It wasn’t long before Meghan had a ring on her finger!
Three First Looks
This wedding day at The Vine was full of touching moments, but we especially loved all of the first looks that the couple incorporated into their timeline. Meghan had a reveal with her bridesmaids first, and the looks on their faces were priceless! She looked absolutely gorgeous in a lace gown with a subtle sweetheart neckline, a mermaid skirt, and a flowing chapel train. Next, she surprised her dad, and his reaction may have been our favorite of all. We love when our brides opt for a first look with their dads—it’s often one of the most emotional moments of the wedding day. What’s more, the two of them end up with the sweetest images to cherish forever.
Last but certainly not least, Meghan had a first look with Jake! We’ll never stop recommending first looks to our couples as a way to get out all of the pre-wedding jitters while taking a moment to connect with their favorite person. In addition, Meghan and Jake opted to read their handwritten vows to each other privately, and we loved that decision! It’s the perfect solution for couples who want to express the depth of their love to one another, but don’t enjoy speaking in front of a crowd.
A Classic Color Palette for a Wedding Day at The Vine
Meghan selected a timeless color palette of crisp white and sky blue for the day, which brought an air of elegance to the lakeside ceremony and barn reception. Her bridesmaids wore floor-length blue dresses in mismatched styles, while the bride’s “something blue” was a pair of suede heels from Lulu’s! As for florals, each carried a bouquet from Urban Rubbish Floristry with a selection of pale pink roses, blue thistle, and blue delphinium. Accent blooms in shades of deep purple, along with sprigs of eucalyptus, filled out the arrangements while adding gorgeous texture.
Later on, the color palette carried into the couple’s reception inside The Barrel Barn. Sky blue seating chart cards directed guests to their tables adorned with white satin tablecloths and blue satin napkins. Clear chargers rimmed in gold beads and gold cutlery filled out each tablescape, while elevated centerpieces bursting with florals and greenery added height to the design. Epoch Co. Events organized the details of this day so thoughtfully, and the warm rustic atmosphere of the barn was the perfect backdrop for all of it!
Capturing Meghan and Jake’s wedding day at The Vine was an honor, especially because this was our third wedding with their family! We love that we are a part of their tribe now. If you’re recently engaged in the Houston area, we want to know all about your love story and how we can serve you by documenting it. Send us a quick note to get the conversation started!
