We had the best time shooting Meghan and Jake’s lakeside engagement, after meeting them through some of our favorite couples we’ve shot in the past! These two have such a beautiful love story, demonstrating that what is meant to be will be. They met in 2011 while both attending college at Texas A&M. Because they met at a university-sponsored leadership program, they were not allowed to date. However, Jake always had a crush on Meghan. The timing just wasn’t right, and both dated other people, but remained friends and kept in touch over the years. Then, a little over two years ago, Meghan got a new job and moved back to Houston. She reached out to Jake to catch up, and the rest is history!
Jake proposed in Round Top, Texas, in a stunningly lush garden setting. Then, he surprised Meghan with a gathering of their closest friends and family at a nearby winery. The gathering was small and intimate—perfect for celebrating the newly engaged couple!
Lakeside Engagement Session
Meghan and Jake’s session began in a wooded area beside a lake, and in an adjoining field of tall grass. It was so romantic! The couple chose to wear two different outfits: one casual and one formal. For her casual outfit, Meghan wore a flowy white blouse and dark blue jeans, paired with brown boots. Jake wore a dark blue button-down shirt, light blue jeans, and brown loafers, which complemented Meghan’s outfit perfectly.
The two then changed into more formal wear. In a continuation of their white-and-blue color scheme, Meghan chose a stunning cobalt blue floor-length evening gown with an eyecatching criss-cross back. She completed the outfit with a simple pair of nude heels. Jake changed into a white and blue checkered dress shirt, a classic dark blue suit jacket, and khaki dress pants. Together, they again coordinated perfectly!
For a change of scene, we photographed Meghan and Jake in their formal outfits on this gorgeous wooden bridge. The pair looked right at home together, laughing and dancing the whole time. Meghan looked gorgeous dancing in her dress! There was also an old stone bridge nearby, which photographed beautifully. We love when a location can provide so many unique backdrops for our couple’s portraits.
