Liz and Ryan are a lovely couple who began dating during a walk home together when they were in sixth grade. Their fall wedding at The Luminaire in Houston, Texas was a heartfelt family affair full of sentimental details. Classic shades of white, midnight blue, and dusty blue formed their color palette.
Sentimental Wedding Details
Liz wore the Prosecco gown by Sarah Seven, featuring an elegant trumpet silhouette and soft crepe fabric. It fit the classic and chic vibe of the day perfectly! Her ring is the Octagon Gatsby by Heidi Gibson, crafted from gold and adorned with pearls and diamonds. Additionally, she accessorized with a cathedral veil studded with pearls, and a pair of kitten heels topped with tulle bows.
A photo of Liz’s grandparents was pinned to her bouquet, as a meaningful way to have them with her as she walked down the aisle. The bride also gifted her mother a handkerchief embroidered with a sweet poem, her name, and the wedding date. Liz and Ryan were each able to prepare for their big day in The Luminaire’s getting-ready suites, along with their bridal party. We loved this, as it allowed us to take our time enjoying the morning with the couple!
First Touch and a First Look with Family
Liz and Ryan opted not to have a first look, deciding on a first touch instead. As they grasped hands, they read their handwritten vows to one another. We always like to recommend a first touch when couples would rather not have a first look. It allows for some private time together, and a chance to hold each other’s hands before the ceremony. Liz did decide to have a first look with her father, brother, and grandfather. This emotional moment was one of our favorites of the day—it was so special to witness, and there was no dry eye in the room!
Wedding at The Luminaire
The Luminaire is one of the newest venues in the Houston area, and it is gorgeous! We love the luscious outdoor spaces and the modern chapel where Liz and Ryan’s ceremony took place. Natural light poured in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the couple as they said their vows beside a wooden cross draped with florals and greenery.
For Liz and Ryan’s couples portraits, we ventured outside, where we were met with the most gorgeous soft lighting and stone walkways. Liz carried her showstopping bouquet by Bramble and Bee, featuring anemones and thistle.
Reception at The Luminaire
The theme of midnight blue accents was carried into the reception with satin tablecloths. At the center of the round tables were vases overflowing with white roses, anemones, and a touch of blue thistle, in a reflection of the bride’s bouquet.
Liz and Ryan shared a dance, Liz danced with her father, and Ryan danced with his mother. Later, they cut into a four-tier cake frosted with swiss dots and decorated with a miniature version of their dog, which was such a nice way to include their pet in the day. At the conclusion of the reception, surprise fireworks went off, and Liz and Ryan made a glittering exit into life as husband and wife!
Liz and Ryan’s wedding at The Luminaire couldn’t have been more lovely and meaningful, and we were so happy to be a part of the day along with a host of other amazing vendors! Planning your wedding?
