We love shooting weddings and engagements in the Houston area, where there’s so much natural beauty! Engagement sessions are unique because the couple has the chance to choose a location that is meaningful to them.
Over the years, we’ve shot in so many places, but these three have stood out! From a state park to a botanical garden, we love the picturesque scenery and natural light of these outdoor escapes. Without further ado, here are our favorite Houston engagement session locations!
Top Houston Engagement Session Locations
Mercer Arboretum and Botanical Gardens
Located on the north side of Houston in Humble, TX, this 14.5-acre sanctuary is perfect for engagement sessions. A collection of native flora creates a lush and colorful backdrop all around. It’s impossible to find an unpleasant angle! Stroll with your sweetheart through the paved garden paths, or enjoy a picnic lunch together as we snap away.
One of the reasons we love botanical gardens so much is that no matter the season, you will have texture and color. From the pops of pinks in the spring, to golden fall hues, you can’t go wrong with a garden!
Brazos Bend State Park
Head 45 miles south of Houston to Needville, TX, and discover the jaw-dropping beauty of Brazos Bend! Part of the Texas State Parks system, it features a wealth of photo-worthy locations. We love shooting our couples underneath the grand oaks with draping Spanish moss or in a field of tall grass (so dreamy!).
This park also lets you play with some patterns with your outfits! While we recommend keeping your colors neutral, you can play up the botanical feel with a subtle floral pattern. Or you can add a pop of color with a fun accessory! Entry to the park requires a small fee, but it’s well worth it. Camping and lodging are also available, so this would be a fantastic location for an elopement or intimate wedding!
Pundt Park
On the outskirts of Spring, TX, north of Houston, lies Pundt Park, a 380-acre oasis. Our favorite location to shoot here is the breathtaking Spring Creek! Surrounded by white sand and beachgrass, no one would ever guess just how close you are to the city. Meanwhile, tall pines provide a dramatic backdrop that feels distinctly Texan.
This location is even more stunning before sunset, during Golden Hour! We suggest doing your session 1.5-2 hours prior to sunset to get the best shots. No matter what location you select, we will help you find the best time for a soft glow.
With these gorgeous Houston engagement session locations, it’s impossible to go wrong! Reach out with the details of your love story and share where you’d like to shoot (or we can help you decide!). We can’t wait to meet you and your partner! In the meantime, browse past engagement sessions for posing and outfit inspiration!
